Finding The Joy In Everyday

Finding The Joy In Everyday

Finding Joy in the Everyday (Even When You’re Running on Empty)

Let’s be honest, motherhood is basically an Olympic sport no one trained you for. Between school runs, dinner dilemmas, after-school activities, and trying to stay on top of work, it’s no wonder most of us are running on low battery and autopilot. And that’s before you add in the curveballs like medical appointments, sick kids, and the ongoing mystery of how the washing pile somehow multiplies overnight. Somewhere between keeping everyone else alive and vaguely functional, we forget about ourselves.

When Did Feeling Good Become Optional?

Somewhere along the line, mums started treating self-care like a luxury, not a necessity. We’ll drop everything for a lost lunchbox but can’t seem to find five minutes to just breathe. But here’s the thing, feeling good isn’t selfish. It’s survival. When you feel like yourself, you show up better for everyone else. You’re calmer, more patient, and maybe even a little less likely to lose it over the Lego on the floor, no promises though. So let’s stop waiting for a quiet weekend that’s never coming and start finding the joy in the little moments we can control.

Small Wins and Style Are Self-Care

Self-care doesn’t have to be a Pinterest-worthy routine, it’s about the little things that remind you there’s still a spark of joy in your day. For me, it might be an everything shower, ten blessed minutes of peace with no interruptions, or grabbing lunch with a friend or my sister. Some days, it’s just slipping on a pair of sunnies and pretending I’ve got my life together. Instant confidence, zero effort.

And it’s not just for you, it’s about teaching your little ones to value themselves too. Seeing your child pop on their favourite sunnies or cap and feel like a superstar is a small moment of joy, just like slipping on a piece of jewellery that’s just for you. These tiny wins, for you or them, remind you that taking a moment for yourself and showing your kids how to do the same doesn’t need to be complicated. It’s not about looking perfect, it’s about finding those small sparks that make the everyday a little lighter.

A Little Reminder from Us to You

You don’t have to do it all and you definitely shouldn’t try to. The real strength is knowing when to ask for help, whether it’s leaning on family, friends, or just admitting it’s a tough week. Find your tribe, the people who get it, and let them lift some of the load. Take the small moments for yourself, a walk in the sun, lunch with a friend, or slipping on something that makes you smile. You deserve to feel good too.
